‘TIL THE FIRES IGNITE

The arrival of a new year seems the perfect time to release a song about appreciating the days we have left on earth. “Time Waits (For No One)” is live and available on Bandcamp; it includes a bonus track when you download the single.

“The Devil’s Gramophone” was intended for a play tracing Old Scratch’s twisty history but totally did not work—probably because I wrote it before reading a finished script—and yet I recorded it anyway. The result seemed to exist in the same world as “Time Waits” and even sounds like Tom Waits re-writing the theme song for Tales From The Crypt. Side note: The featured trumpet solo was actually a bunch of samples I chopped up and repurposed to sound like a single, live performance. It took many hours to do this, and then I recorded my guitar solo live in less than ten minutes…go figure.
