THE CLOCK KEEPS TICKING

It’s all about time—or the lack thereof—that inspired the lyrics for “Time Waits (For No One),” but the music was initially meant as a production music track I called “Tom Waits (For No One).” I was being cheeky since I knew no music library was clamoring for a creaky, attic-dwelling piece of rusty Americana such as this. But it felt right to me and, to my surprise, inspired the words and melody I came up with in a single sitting. The lyrics were Tom Waits-inspired, but deeply personal as I struggle to grasp my own mortality—especially my very close brush with The Reaper back in 2019—and what it means to be on the back half of existence knowing tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. I finally re-recorded the scratch vocals from years ago and fine-tuned the lyrics, so this seems a fitting track to start off a new year, itself just a few days away. I also got a ambitious with my preview trailer and hope to expand on the idea for future releases.
